Video: DC for Marriage Forum

Center volunteer Clare Shepherd has created two short youtube clips of the December 11th Community forum on Marriage Equality.

The first clip features DC for Marriage organizer Michael Crawford as he gives his opening remarks as one of the panelists. The second, which is also featured below, is a general overview of the forum.

DC Community Discusses Marriage

Despite the rainy weather, there was standing-room only at the Marriage Equality Forum on Thursday, December 11th. The event was organized by DC for Marriage, a project of The DC Center, and co-sponsored by Bilerico, Gay and Lesbian Activist Alliance, Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, Human Rights Campaign, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Log Cabin Republicans-District of Columbia Chapter.

The discussion was moderated by Sean Bugg of Metro Weekly and the panel included Jon Hoadley, executive director of National Stonewall Democrats, Jeffrey Richardson, president-elect of Gertrude Stein Democratic Club and Michael Crawford, of DC for Marriage.

A variety of opinions were expressed about the right time and right approach to achieving full marriage equality in the District, however, there was also much common ground.
